Mindful work starts here

Mindful Counseling Services (MCS) is a clinical-private practice providing high-quality and comprehensive mental health services to individuals and organizations seeking support and guidance.

“I joined this profession, as most do, to change the way others feel as they navigate life’s challenges.”

— Nicole Johnson, Ph.D, LCSW

With over 20 years of experience, I aim to support fellow clinicians while they treat clients and their communities. I believe in comprehensive, mindful services. In essence, no one should struggle financially to develop as a clinician or process difficult experiences that impede their emotional and professional growth. This ideology is manifested by my client-first framework, evidenced by timely, considerate responses, ethical services, and prioritizing the human above anything else.

The mission of Mindful Counseling Services is to provide exceptional, comprehensive clinical services to help individuals, groups, and agencies do the same. A well-sharpened and competent clinician will be able to offer excellent clinical services to their clients and overall team. While I expect the best out of my clients, I preserve a relaxed approach to my therapeutic style.

“Nicole is an incredibly knowledgeable and gifted supervisor. She provided me with insightful strategies to strengthen my clinical skills as a therapist. In supervision sessions, I was able to candidly express struggling practices, and Nicole assisted with full support and consultation about client cases. I would highly recommend her as a supervisor for any professional seeking well-rounded supervision.

About Nicole Johnson, Ph.D., LCSW

Thank you for visiting Mindful Counseling Services. My name is Dr. Nicole Johnson, LCSW, and I am grateful to have the potential to help guide and support you through your unique journey. With over 20 years of clinical experience providing individual and group psychotherapy, I have had the pleasure of witnessing countless individuals, just like you, achieve remarkable growth and progress.

As a proactive leader who is directly involved in all facets of analysis, planning, decision-making, implementation, and problem-solving at a thriving clinical practice, I take great pride in ensuring that my team and I provide exceptional care to each and every one of our clients. In addition to my clinical work, I am co-founder of Teen Diaries, a web and community-based education and fitness program for young women, and an advocate for Save the Children.

I am trained in a variety of theoretical modalities, with a particular focus on attachment, self-psychology, and solution-oriented theories—meaning I bring my whole self into every session in an ethical and treatment-forward manner, always prioritizing therapeutic rapport and my clients' unique needs. I believe in pushing past the uncomfortable by facing difficult experiences and disarming them through narratives, values, boundary identification, and mindfulness techniques.

At Mindful Counseling Services, I believe that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all experience. That's why I strive to utilize my expertise in theoretical modalities to support clients and enable clinicians to see their clients likewise. I encourage you to be fully human, ready to interact with others, and use yourself in the milieu to understand and gain awareness of how to push treatment along.

If you're ready to take the next step in your journey, I invite you to book a 15-minute consultation with me. I look forward to connecting with you and working together toward your goals.
